Unusual Phase

Roman Lipski

Opening 28 April, 2026
6 PM – 9 PM

Atelier Roman Lipski Wiener Straße 10, 10999 Berlin

Positioned between tangibility and the unimaginable, Unusual Phase opens up new artistic dimensions. For Roman Lipski, quantum physics is not a distant theoretical construct but a living, inexhaustible source of inspiration of near-infinite complexity. As a long-standing pioneer in the artistic integration of artificial intelligence and quantum processes, he does not resist the future but embraces it as an expanded field of possibility, while his most essential tool remains unchanged: brush and paint on canvas.

In this exhibition, Lipski deliberately refrains from presenting a concrete image of quantum physics or attempting to explain it scientifically. For him, the quantum world instead embodies pure freedom: the freedom to extend his universe of inspiration into infinity. He gathers visual impressions from a reality of such overwhelming complexity that new structures, patterns and dimensions continuously emerge within it.

Unusual Phase marks a significant new chapter in Roman Lipski’s oeuvre. While remaining deeply committed to analog painting, he establishes a subtle synergy with quantum algorithms. Quantum technology does not appear as visible technique or installation, but functions solely as a profound conceptual point of reference. It is precisely in this deliberate restraint that a powerful parallel to the quantum world itself arises: a realm that eludes our immediate perception and generates a special, almost magical fascination through its very inaccessibility. The exhibited works invite the viewer to decide for themselves to what extent they wish to enter this new world and what personal relationship they choose to form with it.

Unusual Phase is the beginning of a new series of exhibitions that explores the use of quantum technology as an invisible impulse in painting, inspiring both known and yet undiscovered artistic worlds.
